BuildMyTeam Participates in 'Startup India Rocks 2015' in Goa, India

Goa, India - October 7, 2015

Build My Team (BMT) was a sponsor and participant at Startup India Rocks, India's first global startup event.

The event was hosted across 2 days at the Leela hotel in Goa, India on October 7th and 8th.

Startup India Rocks is India's first startup conference focused on connecting India's emerging startup and innovation ecosystem with international entrepreneurs, investors, and companies.

Ashwin Sanzgiri
Vice President
Cross Border Angels

"India needs a native startup event that allows its local startup ecosystem to actively engage with other global stakeholders." - Ashwin Sanzgiri, VP Cross Border Angels.

Cross Border Angels, the event organizers, aim to connect India's unique entrepreneurial spirit with leaders from startup hubs like Silicon Valley, New York, London, Berlin, Helsinki, Istanbul, Singapore, Beijing, Shenzhen, and others.

Kaushal Chokshi, President Cross Border Angels

"In this digital world I've realized that nothing is local and everything has to be global." - Kaushal Chokshi, President Cross Border Angels.

A recurring theme at the event was how the nature of startups has become global. The days of local, isolated early-stage focus has given way to 'global first' startups that develop products, attract customers, and raise capital on a global scale from launch.

BMT hosted a session on 'Smart Human Capital' for startups and corporates. Sridhar Vangala, BMT VP, evangelized the new paradigm of going where the talent is, where companies establish operations in locations where they can access an abundance of skilled STEM talent.

"The days of only hiring people locally, or importing your entire staff from other locations is over. Whether you are using remote workers or launching new offices, to be competitive today, companies are leveraging teams early on in locations with massive volume. This is advantageous to startups in 2 ways: 1) Access highly skilled, qualified people that are cost-effective, but more importantly 2) be positioned to quickly scale headcount when your growth takes off." - Sridhar Vangala, VP Build My Team.

60 startups were selected to pitch to a mix of 150 international and 150 Indian investors and partners, with a further 30 startups offered space for exclusive product launches. Participating investors included Paulo Andrez (Ex-President – EBAN), Vesa Perala (Angel Investor – FIBAN), Stephen Liu (Angel Investor – China & Founder of Cybernaut Investment Group), Gary Stewart (Director at Wayra – UK – a Telefónica Initiative), Ricardo Luz (Board Member – EBAN), Burak Buyukdemir (Founder – Etohum), Peter E. Braun (Founder – Mountain Club -Swiss Angel Network), Sandeep Aneja (Founder & MD – Kaizen Private Equity), Radha Kizhanattam (Principal – Unitus Seed Fund), Mohit Kabra (CFO – MakeMyTrip), and Dewang Neralla (International Angel Investor).
